IRS Identity Protection PIN (IP PIN)

Extra Protection for Your Tax Return

An IP PIN is a 6-digit number issued annually by the IRS to prevent fraudulent tax returns filed using your SSN or ITIN.

Once issued, it must be included on your tax return or the IRS will reject the filing.
